Although vaccination has been used for decades as a way to prevent fatal diseases, recently a new trend had sprung – anti-vaccination movement. The people who are against vaccines most commonly associate them with autism in children. And while the uproar about this issue is only gaining steam in the world, some of the celebrities have weighed in and loudly refused to let their kids be vaccinated.
1. Jenny McCarthy
The actress, talk show host, model and an author you may know from Scream or Scary Movie or maybe Playboy magazine is one of the biggest proponents of the anti-vaccine ideology. As a mother of an autistic child, McCarthy has decided to become a spokeperson for all the parents and autistic children.
She has spoken about the connections between vaccination and autism which brought her a lot of publicity but also negative comments from people who condemned her for dicouraging parents from vaccinating their children without any scientific reason. But as the years passed, Jenny changed her story, claiming she was never anti-vaccine, and that people misunderstood her. She just wanted all the parents to be informed and “well-educated” about the whole process.
